cards are useful only in some of the biggest shops. The
services in restaurants, tourist agencies, etc. are paid
in cash.

Weather and average temperature :

The weather in August is sunny and hot. Average temperatures
are between 25 C and 30 C, the temperature of the sea
water is about 22 C.

Bulgaria is situated on the Balkan peninsula in the South-East
Europe. The country borders on Romania, Greece, Turkey,
former Yugoslavia and has an outlet on the Black Sea.
The total surface is 110 912 sq. km. The population is
about 8 million. The capital is Sofia with 1 million inhabitants.
The biggest city on the Black Sea coast is Varna with
about 400 000 inhabitants. Some of the major towns in
the country are: Plovdiv, Burgas and Russe. The National
Feast is 3 March - The Day of Liberation.
