Bulgaria is situated on the Balkan peninsula in the South-East Europe. The country borders on Romania, Greece, Turkey, former Yugoslavia and has an outlet on the Black Sea. The total surface is 110 912 sq. km. The population is about 8 million. The capital is Sofia with 1 million inhabitants. The biggest city on the Black Sea coast is Varna with about 400 000 inhabitants. Some of the major towns in the country are: Plovdiv, Burgas and Russe.
